Important: Compounded medications are not FDA-approved. The FDA does not review compounded drugs for safety, effectiveness, or quality. Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide are different from FDA-approved brand-name products (such as Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, and Zepbound®). When prescribed, compounded medications are prepared for you individually by a state-licensed 503A pharmacy.
Who is eligible for weight loss medication?
Eligibility criteria apply. Initiation of weight loss medication is generally available to adults age 18 and older with a BMI of 30 or higher, or a BMI of 27 or higher with a weight-related medical condition (such as hypertension, type 2 diabetes, or dyslipidemia). Maintenance patients who no longer meet initiation criteria may still qualify at the provider's discretion. Every patient receives a medical evaluation by a board-certified, state-licensed provider, which may include comprehensive lab work. Prescriptions are issued solely at the discretion of the medical provider, only when clinically appropriate and safe. Booking a visit is not a guarantee of a prescription. Patients with certain medical conditions, contraindications, or who are pregnant or breastfeeding may not qualify.
